Vintage SPLITDORF Winged Motor Meter Hood Ornament, 10" wingspan

Description

This vintage hood ornament comes to you out of a long time collector's garage. This is one of the last for sale. The condition is overall good, but please examine the photographs carefully as they are part of the condition and description. A couple of scratches are to the left of the center piece. The right wing has a flea bite chip in it. I believe, but don't know, that these "wings" had a way to flip up so the radiator could be filled, but I don't know how to do that. This measures 10" across from wingtip to wingtip. A mascot or car emblem went through the hole in the center. On the inside of the cap it reads "SPLITDORF NEWARK-BETHLEHEM MADE IN U.S.A.
