Gordon Setter:
finely sculpted graceful gundog in standing position.
The breed's elegant shape and distinctive feathered coat are nicely molded, and then elaborately hand-painted black with tan markings to represent the Gordon coloring.
The Gordon Setter figurine will make a great gift for any Setter lovers, or an outstanding addition to your dog statue collection for sure.

Maker's name "長江陶業(Nagae Tougyou)" along with serial number is marked on the underside. There is also a sticker that reads "Seto-yaki"(瀬戸焼). 'Seto-yaki' is a general term for porcelain products made in Seto Japan, which includes all kinds of porcelain items such as animal, human, Disney and more figurines, and also chinaware for practical as well as decorative purposes. "Seto" is a city located in the center of Japan, and is also the center for Japan's ceramics industry.
This Setter figurine is a
newly made reproduction
from a somewhat old mold which has probably been used since the '70s or '80s. In those days, a large quantity of dog figurines was produced in Japan and exported worldwide under various brand names, such as Shafford, Napco or Lefton... Those manufacturers now no longer exist. However, some of their casting molds have been passed down and some dog breeds are still being made in small quantities in a small factory run by a husband and wife team, where this Setter figurine was also made.
