Description
Product description:This Sonia Extended Range version has approximately 25% increased range over the standard Sonia optical slave (yellow end cap).
This optical slave is unusual, it has a male PC connector, not the far more common female PC connector found on many optical slaves.
The male PC connector makes it especially well suited to work with the many flash units that have a built in female PC sync connector as found on the Nikon SB-24 ⁄ 25 ⁄ 27 ⁄ 28 ⁄ 28DX, and the Canon 580EX II*. It also works nicely on the popular FlashZebra.Com Hotshoe Adapters #0064 and #0065. On these flash units and adapters the optical slave just pushes directly into the sync port. No cord is required. Simple. Effective.
This device will immediately fire a connected flash unit when another flash burst is detected. This allows a remote flash to be fired without any connecting wires.
The triggering flash must not emit a pre-flash as this will prematurely fire the connected flash.
It requires no batteries or other power; it runs off the flash unit it is connected to.
*This device will work with the Canon 580 EX II if connected via the PC port, but will not work with other Canon EX Flash units.
It is small, about ½ x ¾ x 1 inches. The slave and circuitry is encased in solid resin, so it is extremely rugged.
