harvesting breadfruit plants and preparing the plants for the journey to the
West Indies
, the crew launched its mutiny in April 1789 as the Bounty was passing
Tonga
. The mutinous crew eventually burned the HMS Bounty while it was anchored off the
Pitcairn
Islands
.
